The original High Pressure Gas Strut Cartridge can be replaced by 364021 with Boot Kit # SB101

To determine which shock absorber is correct (ie 1 976-240D), chedk the chassis number of the vehicle and compare to the production series listed. The first three digits of the chassis number is the prod series.

On models originally equipped with Nivomat self-leveling rear shocks, to install KG4549 replace the original rear coil spring with Saab P/N 8960940

If the Vehicle is originally equipped with High Pressure Gas Cartridges: Thefollowing parts are required to install 365006; 1) Adapter P/N 1229423-7 (from Volvo dealer) installed under the cartridge in the strut housing, 2) KYB Strut Boot Kit # SB101 installed on the cartridge piston rod.

On models originally equipped with Nivomat self-leveling rear shocks, to install KG5565 replace the original coil spring with Volvo spring P/N 1359710. Use the listed application strut cartridges on the front end.

Reuse original internal-threaded strut body nut on certain applications; or replace with VW P/N 823412047.

Strut must be cut to install cartridge. Check strut for a cut line groove (20mm from strut top). If no cut line groove is found, do not cut strut open as there are no threads inside. The complete strut must be replaced.

To replace the Original Equipment self-leveling air strut: use KYB gas strut # 235025 with Strut Boot Kit # SB104. Deactivate the self-leveling system per Appendix B.

For vehicles with Electronic Suspensions, Leveling Control, and Air Suspensions refer to Appendix C.

Install KG4521 with the dustcover to the rear of the vehicle, the spacers (in KG4521 box) to the inboard side of the shock, and the axle mounting bracket spread slightly (1-2mm).

Eliminates OEM airshocks. See Appendix A for special instructions.

The Jaguar Rear Self-Leveling Units can be eliminated by replacing them with P/N KG9309 (2 req.) and KYB Conversion Kit P/N KIT109 (1 req.). Vehicles with totally worn-out self-leveling shocks may have fatigued rear springs. If necessary, Jaguar spring kit #JLM-1 1382 is required to restore the vehicle's proper ride height. Kit #JLM-1 1382 consists of (2) springs and spring shims and is available from a Jaguar dealer.

When inventory is depleted use KG4515
